Participation in Upgrade Programme
In 2021 Koprivshtitsa is included in the program for upgrade to the Best Tourism Villages initiative of the World Tourism Organisation.
What does that mean?
The programme supports destinations that have potential but still do not fully cover the conditions for the basic label. It is a separate category of the label Best Tourism Village itself.
Assessment and development
The initiative links tourism to the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, sustainability, local economy and community welfare. The Bulgarian application is supported by the Ministry of Tourism.
